The Centre for Infectious Disease Epidemiology & Research (CIDER) is a service-orientated research grouping in the School of Public Health and Family Medicine focusing on priority infectious diseases such as HIV and tuberculosis. The Centre has a new project in the Motheo District of the Free State Province, which seeks to strengthen the monitoring of the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) programme, through the implementation of a monitoring tool, and training and support of the appropriate staff responsible for data from facility through to district level.
CIDER seeks to appoint a Data Quality Officer for this project initially on a one-year contract appointment. The incumbent will have two primary functions. Firstly, he/she will review, validate and improve the quality of key PMTCT indicator data reported via the district health information system used at antenatal services. Secondly, he/she will play a central role in improving the data from the sites through training and support of site staff.

The American Center for International Labor Solidarity (Solidarity Center) requires the consultancy services of an individual or team with demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing project monitoring and reporting plans and protocols and in training individuals on monitoring and reporting for PEPFAR-funded HIV/AIDS projects. Additionally, the consultancy requires the development of data collection tools and a simple electronic database system for capturing project data and reporting. The consultant or consultancy team needs to be convenient to Johannesburg, South Africa, where the Solidarity Center’s country office is located. (The consultancy does not include per diem.) The length of the consultancy is approximately one to two months. Anticipated start date is June 2011.
